Tokyo: Harajuku Girls

Harajuku Station in Tokyo (along with the surrounding alleys and streets) is the scene of one of Asia's most dynamic young cultures.
Adjectives don't really suffice to describe the scene. "Underground culture" is sometimes used to describe youth gatherings in Harajuku. "Japanese Teen Pop Culture" is another common label.
Singer-song writer (and fashion designer) Gwen Stefani brought Harajuku more fully into the international limelight when she released the song "Harajuku Girls" on her 2004 debut solo album. Stefani toured in 2005 with four Harajuku girls as part of her stage presence.
Harajuku district in Tokyo is famous for its youth culture, but it is also a good shopping district and the important Meiji shrine is in the district...
