The New York times has covered the range of airlines ripping off people for meals 30,000 feet above sea level. Ever wanted to know the dish about which airlines charge what for a bottle of water, a packet of chips or a snack? Here's the scoop.

- Spirit Air ($2 for coffee, tea, water; $3 for soda, juice)
- US Airways ($1 for coffee, tea; $2 for water, juice, soda)
Airlines with best free snacks:
- Southwest (free pretzels, peanuts, Oreos, Cheese Nips)
- Midwest (free signature hot chocolate chip cookies)
- Jet Blue (free Terra Blue chips, Frito-Lays, cookies, cashews , biscotti, animal crackers)
